Screaming In High Heels: The Rise and Fall of the Scream Queen Era (2012)

High Heels

I don't know how many of the people who read my reviews grew up in the 80s watching B Movies on cable and VHS, but for those of you who did, watching Screaming In High Heels will be like looking through your old High School yearbook!  For those of you too young to remember (or who didn't get into the B Movies until later), this will provide you with a quick history lesson of the genre.  Screaming In High Heels allows three of the biggest Scream Queens of the era to tell their stories.  Brinke Stevens, Michelle Bauer and Linnea Quigley were in more movies during their peak than most actors will be in for their entire lives!  In addition to interviews with the ladies themselves, there are interviews with other actors, writers and directors who lived through it all with them.  There are also dozens of clips from the movies that made them famous...or is that infamous!?  I know it's left me wanting to dig out my old VHS collection and re-watch some classics!

In addition to featuring three of the loveliest ladies to ever grace a VHS cover, Screaming In High Heels is very well put together.  There is a great mix of interviews and an awesome selection of classic scenes.  It comes across as both informative and entertaining.  From watching this DVD, I learned a lot about the movies that I grew up loving; the movies that led me to creating this website.  On the technical end, everything is top notch.  The editing is great and the audio is clear.   They really did a good job of putting this DVD together!

So whether or not you fondly remember Return of the Living Dead, Slumber Party Massacre and Death Row Diner, I highly recommend that you check out Screaming In High Heels if you have any interest in the history of the B Movie genre.  I think I might have to go find my copy of Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama!

Visit the Breaking Glass Pictures website for more info.:

Gore-o-meter rating: 2 out of 5
(the focus is more on the babes, but the gore is represented too)

Skin-o-meter: 4 out of 5 (some of the best, classic nude scenes from the late 70s - early 90s)
