Thong Girl 4: The Body Electric (2011)

Thong Girl 4: The Body Electric - Review

Thong Girl 4

Director Glen Weiss is back with a bigger budget on Thong Girl 4: The Body Electric!  Tony Domenico returns with another great performance as the hilariously "out-and-proud" sidekick, Boxer Brief Boy and practically steals the show.  Leah Adcock also reprises her role as Lana Layonme / Thong Girl, but only for a brief cameo.  She accidentally fires off a butt laser in the bathtub and electrocutes herself at the beginning of the film.  As a result of this bizarre accident, there's a new girl in the thong for this latest installment.  Lana's sister Laura, who's played by Alex del Monacco, awkwardly learns how to use her newly acquired powers in classic Greatest American Hero style.  Along with the help of Boxer Brief Boy, the new Thong Girl must face her most awesome enemy yet: Electar (played by actor Will Jones).

Jones absolutely nails his performance as the billionaire scientist turned guitar wielding supervillain.  He along with Domenico as Boxer Brief Boy really carry the movie.  Actor Martin Brady does a great job as the brains on Thong Girl's team and there's also an awesome cameo from low-budget movie king Lloyd Kaufman.  Alex del Monacco's performance as the new Thong Girl isn't as strong as the rest of the main cast members but fortunately, Electar and Boxer Brief Boy have so much screen time that it's their movie just as much as it is hers anyway...and they both knock it out of the park.  Much like Thong Girl 3, Electar, Boxer Brief Boy and the rest of the supporting characters have the same great charm and camp as the old Sid and Marty Krofft productions of the 70s like The Bugaloos, Far Out Space Nuts and Dr. Shrinker.  The great performances of these zany characters give the movie everything it needs to be a cult classic.
At the time of my review for Thong Girl 3, former Playboy Playmate Audra Lynn was to play
Thong Girl in this movie.  I guess that didn't work out, but I would have loved to have seen how she would have handled the role!  She really had the look to play the totally hot, yet very together Electra Woman type character that worked so well for Leah Adcock in Thong Girl 3.

Production wise, the larger budget really shows.  Thong Girl 3 looked pretty good for an ultra-low-budget film, but Thong Girl 4 makes huge steps forward with the movie quality.  The audio is better.  Many of the sets are much larger and more intricate.  The special effects are less  amateurish this time around.  They're still cheesy, but in a good way.  In general, the whole production is just more over the top than the previous movie.  It's clear that most of the cast was having a good time throughout the filming and the movie really is a lot of fun.  I think the movie could have been edited down a little bit because there were a couple of scenes that dragged on  somewhat longer than needed.  Most of the movie had a good pace and was kept entertaining by the camp and silliness, but there was a dinner scene in particular that sort of dragged on without much humor.  Nonetheless, 95% of the movie is great.  Overall, it's simply a lot of fun.  I liked Thong Girl 3, but I think that in most respects this movie is better!  Thong Girl's acting on this one and the pace on a couple of scenes are my only two complaints.  And with such a great  supporting cast, the movie works very well.  If you like Sid and Marty Krofft's stlye of humor, are a fan of The Greatest American Hero or are into girls in bikini's and other skimpy outfits, you should definitely check out Thong Girl 4: The Body Electric!  For more information about the Thong Girl series, visit their website here:
